About the Role
A reputable hotel in Imo State is seeking a skilled and trustworthy Accountant to join its operations team. The ideal candidate must not only be sound in theory but also demonstrate strong practical knowledge of accounting as it specifically applies to hotel operations. You will be responsible for managing the hotel’s financial systems, reporting, and compliance, while ensuring cost-effectiveness, operational efficiency, and transparency.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate records of all hotel financial transactions.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and reconciliations.
• Manage payroll, vendor payments, and statutory deductions.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost control measures.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
• Implement and maintain accounting systems and software for efficient financial management.
• Liaise with auditors, banks, suppliers, and other stakeholders as needed.
• Support the management with financial insights to aid decision-making.
Requirements
HND/BSc in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 2–4 years proven accounting experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
• High level of integrity and accountability — references required to verify character and professionalism. • Strong proficiency in modern accounting tools/software (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or hotel PMS accounting modules).
• Good command of Microsoft Excel and general IT literacy.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Attributes
• Familiarity with the economic realities of the South-East and cost-saving practices in the hospitality sector. • Practical understanding of inventory and revenue management in hotel settings.
